For more accurate evaluation, TEPS uses a scoring system based on item response theory (IRT). The TEPS Center analyzes test items and yields scores based on a standardized procedure. Also, through quality control, multiple verification steps, and test equating, the TEPS Center ensures that the same score on any TEPS form represents the same level of English proficiency.
